The 3.0T and Open MRI Units

The UT Medical Center operates a GE Signa Excite HD 3.0T, the world’s fastest and most powerful clinical MRI machine offering images of the body with more detail and clarity than ever before. This provides more information to your physician for a better diagnosis and treatment plan. In addition, we offer special breast and cardiac imaging capabilities with this equipment that in some cases can reduce the need for more invasive procedures, another first in our region.

We also offer the Siemens Magentom Espree – a 1.5T, high field open MRI for those patients who require a more open environment due to claustrophobia or other physical limitations.

The 64-Row CT
Highly detailed pictures of a patient’s anatomy and pathology are critical when diagnosing a range of conditions, including heart disease. That is why The UT Medical Center has added to its comprehensive imaging suite an Aquilion™ 64 CFX, the most advanced multi-slice computed tomography technology for the detection and treatment of heart disease, from Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc

The new 64-row CT allows detailed images of the heart viewed faster, avoiding invasive procedures. These high-resolution images enable physicians to clearly visualize the heart, its vessel walls and surrounding structures to detect the early onset of coronary heart disease and reduce the need for high-risk surgical procedures. Approximately 70 percent of diagnostic catheterizations yield negative results. The 64-slice CT is a practical and cost-effective diagnostic tool for coronary disease.
