Kidney Transplant Statistics

The University of Toledo Medical Center Kidney Transplant Program reached a medical milestone in 2023, when the 3,000th kidney transplant was performed. Surgical skills, anti-rejection drugs and improved patient-donor matching have allowed long-term success rates at The University of Toledo Medical Center (UTMC).

UTMC is known for the shortest waitlist time in the area at an average of less than 4 months, as opposed to the average of more than a year and half at other transplant centers in our region which includes Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana. UTMC is also a member of the United Network for Organ Sharing's (UNOS) Paired Donation Program and a member of the Alliance for Paired Donation. Additional information about transplant program outcomes is available to the public at www.srtr.org (Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients - SRTR) and is updated every six months.

The SRTR database can be used to research and compare all transplant programs throughout the United States. Information covered includes graft and patient survival for deceased and living donor transplants.
