Kidney Transplant Program

For almost 50 years, The University of Toledo Medical Center has offered adult kidney transplantation as one of the treatment options for end-stage renal disease. Since the first kidney transplant operation was performed at The University of Toledo Medical Center in 1972, more than 2,000 kidney transplant operations have been performed.

The University of Toledo Medical Center offers kidney transplants using kidneys from deceased and living organ donors. Living donors may be related or unrelated to the potential transplant candidate, giving directly or indirectly through paired donation or never-ending chains.

Meet our Team
