Obstetrics and Gynecology

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology offer a full spectrum of clinical services for women, from yearly examinations and screenings to highly specialized procedures.

Obstetric and Gynecologic sub specialties include the following:

  • Gynecologic Oncology:
    The comprehensive gynecologic oncology center specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant female reproductive system diseases and cancers.

  • Postmenopausal Medicine:
    Postmenopausal medicine includes hormone replacement therapy, sexuality and dysfunction, depression, and osteoporosis.

  • Urogynecology:
    The field of urogynecology specializes in caring for women's urology, pelvic problems, and the reproductive system. Common conditions include bladder control problems, bowel control problems, and pelvic organ prolapse.

  • Hereditary Cancers:
    Hereditary cancers include treatment of cancers, genetics counseling, genetic testing, and prophylactic surgery.

  • Pre-Invasive Disease/Vulvovaginal Disease:
    Pre-invasive disease can be pre-malignant or pre-cancerous disease. It refers to the very early stage of cancer development, when abnormal changes occur in the tissue, which could be a pre-determinant for a possible future cancer. Vulvovaginal disease relates to infections of the vagina.

  • Chronic Pelvic Pain/Sexual Dysfunction:
    Chronic pelvic pain refers to symptoms of long lasting pain in your pelvic region, and sexual dysfunction includes problems associated with sexual response, desire, arousal, and/or sex pain disorders.

  • Minimally Invasive Surgery:
    Minimally invasive surgery refers to surgery that is completed through small incisions; using specialized techniques, cameras with microscopes, tiny fiber-optic flashlights, and high definition monitors.

  • Complicated Pelvic Surgery:
    Complicated pelvic surgery includes surgery related to types of bladder and pelvic organ disorders.
