UTMC receives Stroke Recognition

The University of Toledo Medical Center congratulates Dr. Mouhammad Jumaa and Dr. Syed Zaidi, co-directors of the stroke program and the entire stroke team, for their involvement in our hospital achieving the American Heart Association’s (AHA) “Stroke Gold Plus Performance Award and being placed onGold Plus Badge the Target Stroke Honor Roll!”

The UT Medical Center is impacting the lives of many by using the AHA’s premier hospital-based quality improvement program, Get With The Guidelines for the treatment of stroke patients. To qualify for the award, a hospital must adhere to all the specified standards at least 85 percent of the time for the previous 12 months and maintain a 75% or higher compliance with 6 of 10 Get With The Guidelines Stroke Quality Measures. In addition 50% or more of applicable acute ischemic stroke patients must be treated with rt-PA within < 60 minutes during one calendar quarter. The standards are those that have been proven to improve health after stroke.

UTMC offers the area's first accredited primary stroke center, and was recognized for the 4th consecutive year to receive the Gold Sustained Performance Award for stroke care.
