About our team
Our bariatric surgeon and medical director is a board-certified general surgeon with more than 35 years surgical experience and an extensive background performing weight loss and laparoscopic minimally invasive surgical procedures. He also performs endoscopic or non- surgical procedures for those individuals who have had weight loss surgery and are now experiencing problems or weight regain.
Justin Hsu, MD, Bariatric Surgeon:
Dr. Hsu completed medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston then went on to complete his General Surgery residency at Spectrum Health/Michigan State University in Grand Rapids. He pursued a rigorous fellowship after residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he specialized in Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery.. Dr. Hsu is board certified in General Surgery with Fellowship training in Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery. He specializes in performing the sleeve gastrectomy, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, hiatal/paraesophageal hernia repair, Nissen and Toupet fundoplications, Heller myotomy, and complex abdominal and inguinal hernia repairs. He is certified and trained to perform surgery on the Da Vinci Xi Robotic Surgery platform. He takes pride in treating his patients like his own family in providing not only excellent care but also undivided attention and support.
Tanya Beard DNP, MSN, RN Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Coordinator:
Tanya is a registered nurse with more than 25 years of experience. She completed her graduate work at The University of Toledo, Duquense University, and Mercy College of Ohio. She has been an Assistant Professor for Adult Health and worked critical care a majority of her career. Since the pandemic, she has transitioned to leadership to help patients get the best healthcare outcomes with the resources available to them. As the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Coordinator, she helps patients navigate the bariatric pathway to a healthier lifestyle and journey to surgery.
Adrienne Justen RDN, LD Registered Dietician:
Adrienne Justen RDN, LD is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. She holds a Bachelor Degree of Science in Allied Health Professions with a major in Medical Dietetics from The Ohio State University. Adrienne has been a practicing dietitian for over 20 years. Adrienne has provided medical nutrition therapy in many clinical settings including critical care, oncology, cardiac, rehabilitation, and bariatrics. Adrienne enjoys counseling clients and helping them live healthy lives.
