Dr. Brunicardi received his medical degree from Rutgers University School of Medicine and trained in general surgery at SUNY-Brooklyn Health and Science Center, which included a three year research fellowship in pancreatic cancer and physiology. In 2016, Dr. Brunicardi was appointed the John Howard Professor of Pancreatic Surgery and Chair of the Department of Surgery for the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences. In 2017, Dr. Brunicardi was appointed as the Director of the Cancer Program for University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences. In practice for 30 years, his clinical expertise includes pancreatic cancer, stomach cancer, esophageal cancer and neuroendocrine tumors. His research focuses on precision cancer therapies for pancreatic cancer using an innovative targeted therapy platform. Dr. Brunicardi has published 291 papers and has served as the lead editor of the Schwartz’s Principles of Surgery since 2000.
