Your Cancer Care Team

At the Eleanor N. Dana Cancer Center, we believe in a team approach to cancer care. When your entire medical team works together and communicates effectively, you receive the best care.

Your cancer care team includes:

  • Physicians who have experience treating all types of cancers and who specialize in areas including oncology, surgery, radiology, pathology, radiation oncology and hematology.
  • Nurse practitioners who provide education, help you manage side effects and symptoms and interpret lab tests.
  • Nurses who are trained in the care of oncology patients, administer chemotherapy, help you manage radiation side effects, address questions or concerns about cancer treatment and coach you through recovery.
  • Radiation therapists who administer the physician-prescribed course of radiation therapy in a compassionate, friendly manner.
  • Medical assistants and administrative personnel who assist you from the moment you make that first call for an appointment to greeting you warmly at registration, helping with insurance issues and guiding you through your visits.
  • Social worker who is there to assist you and your family with the emotional, physical and financial stresses of cancer. Social workers can point you to support groups and other resources to help you cope.
  • Clinical oncology pharmacists who work in tandem with your medical team to precisely calculate dosages, examine potential interactions, counsel you regarding any of your cancer-related drugs and answer your questions about any aspect of your pharmacological treatment. They also can help you obtain prior authorizations and specialty medicines.
  • Patient navigator who can help coordinate your care within the cancer center and ease registration, scheduling and other needs.
