Brain Cancer Research Studies

Study Title: A Randomized, Phase III, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Trial of Memantine for Prevention of Cognitive Dysfunction in Patients Receiving Whole-Brain Radiotherapy.

Study Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine whether the addition of memantine to WBRT (Whole-Brain Radiation Therapy) preserves cognitive function, specifically memory as measured by the Hopkins Learning Test, over that of placebo and WBRT in patients with brain metastases at 24 weeks from the start of drug treatment. If you have a confirmed diagnosis of solid tumor malignancy of the brain within 5 years of registration and no evidence of systemic disease progression within 3 months or more, you may qualify for this study.
