Patient Safety

The University of Toledo Medical Center is dedicated to maintaining the highest level of patient safety.

  • FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) - FMEA is a systematic, proactive method for evaluating a process to identify where and how it might fail, and to assess the relative impact of different failures in order to identify the parts of the process that are most in need of change. 
  • SE Alerts (Sentinel Event Alerts)
  • NPSGs (National Patient Safety Goals) - The purpose of the Joint Commission’s National Patient Safety Goals is to promote specific improvements in patient safety. The Goals focus on system-wide solutions, wherever possible.
