Driver Safety Classes

The University of Toledo Trauma Program partners with AARP's Driver Safety Program to offer defensive driving classes.
The cost of the class is $10.00, and is open to all drivers. The course material covers:

  • How to compensate for changes in vision, hearing and reaction time.
  • How to handle problem situations such as left turns, right-of-way, freeway traffic, trucks and blind spots.
  • What to do if confronted by an aggressive driver.
  • How medications may affect driving.

This eight-hour course is taught in two four-hour sessions. NO TESTS ARE GIVEN AND NO IN-CAR DRIVING IS REQUIRED. All instructors are certified senior drivers. In addition, upon completion of the course, you may be entitled to an insurance discount.

The class will be held on the following dates in the Collier building, on the University of Toledo Health Science Campus:

April 12 and 13, 2005 Tuesday and Wednesday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
June 14 and 15, 2005 Tuesday and Wednesday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Sept. 13 & 14, 2005 Tuesday and Wednesday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Oct. 18 & 19, 2005 Tuesday and Wednesday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
