About the Center

smiling childrenThe Kobacker Center at The University of Toledo Medical Center is northwest Ohio’s first hospital devoted to treating the emotional and behavioral needs of children and teens.

Staff members include board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrists, clinical child psychologists, social workers, therapists, nurses, mental health technicians, recreational and occupational therapist, teachers and resident physicians on call 24 hours a day.

The Kobacker Center has a rich tradition of caring for children. A team of professionals from a variety of disciplines provides comprehensive treatment and guidance. Staff members include board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrists, clinical child psychologists, social workers, therapists, nurses, teachers, and residents on call 24 hours a day.

The Kobacker Center staff members believe family involvement is key to a child’s successful treatment. To develop a treatment plan, the center’s programs incorporate information gathered from family members about the child’s problems. Families are encouraged to communicate regularly with team members and attend treatment team meetings.

The team has developed integrated treatment options, which have proven to be successful at treating emotional distress among children.
