Greetings from The University of Toledo Medical Center Sports Medicine Division

 

Letter from the Medical Director.

 

I would like to take a moment and introduce you to The University of Toledo Medical Center’s (UTMC) Sports Medicine Staff. Included in this inaugural issue are brief biographies and some sports medicine topics that I hope can spark your interest and help you understand the treatment and diagnosis of some common sports medicine problems.

 

In 2006, The UTMC sports medicine program began and I am very pleased with how it has developed over such a short period of time. The UTMC Sports Medicine Staff is made up of a team of sports medicine fellowship-trained sports medicine physicians, orthopaedic surgeons, family physicians, athletic trainers, and physical and occupational therapists. We currently are the team physicians for 20 high schools in Northwest Ohio and the Southern Michigan. Additionally, we provide care for the Toledo Rockets Division IA athletics, Christian Youth Organizations including youth football and soccer teams, and boxing and mixed martial arts events that take place in the city. Recently we added the Toledo Ballet and Glass City Volleyball. Finally, UTMC is the sports medicine provider for the Glass City Marathon. We continue to grow every year, and a big thank you needs to go to our staff, which all strives to deliver the best university-quality care possible.

 

Over the next few weeks you will be receiving emails of the Issues of the Sports Medicine Newsletter which will introduce you to several members of our team, and include several topics on how to diagnose and treat specific sports medicine related problems.
