Michael Abowd, MD Oculoplastic Surgery/General Ophthalmology Dr. Abowd is a Diplomate
of the American Board of Ophthalmology and is fellowship-trained in Oculoplastic and
Reconstructive Surgery. His practice includes comprehensive ophthalmology and cataract
surgery. Dr. Abowd’s sub-specialty interests include the medical and surgical treatment
of eyelid, eye socket and tear drain disorders: therapeutic and cosmetic eyelid surgery,
eyelid tumors, eyelid and eye socket trauma and reconstruction, tearing problems,
and BOTOX treatment.
|Michelle Ariss, MD Pediatric Ophtalmology and Strabismus (Eye Muscle) Surgery Dr. Ariss received her
training at Cleveland Clinic and the Friedenwald Eye Institute in Baltimore. She is
Northwest Ohio's first truly comprehensive specialist in pediatric ophthalmology with
expertise not only in conventional strabismus problems but also complex pediatric
and adult strabismus surgery, pediatric cataract and glaucoma care, and management
of congenital eye disease. She coordinates care with pediatric neurologists, pediatricians,
primary eye care providers and other specialists, including the Vision Associates
Retina Service which is the region's exclusive provider of comprehensive pediatric
John C. Burchfield, MD Glaucoma Surgery Dr. Burchfield is a native of Toledo, and specializes in glaucoma
surgery. Dr. Burchfield specializes in advance techniques in the diagnosis and medical
and surgical management of glaucoma. As part of this specialty, he also performs cataract
surgery, ranging from simple to complex cases with other coexisting eye diseases.
He has received numerous awards for clinical care and teaching.
|Qais A. Farjo, MD Cornea and Refractive Surgery/LASIK Qais Farjo, is a corneal specialist, and is the
Director of the LASIK and Keratofractive Center at Vision Associates and the Wildwood
Surgery Center. Dr. Farjo is an Ann Arbor native and confirmed Wolverine. He specializes
in all aspects of LASIK, refractive surgery, and other types of corneal surgery. He
offers the most advanced LASIK technology in the region and provides consultative
services for eye doctors throughout the Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan area.
|Hooman Harooni, MD Cornea and Refractive Surgery/LASIK Dr. Harooni is a native of Los Angeles, graduating
with honors from UCLA. He received his medical training at the University of Cincinnati,
residency training at Medical College of Georgia, and received his cornea fellowship
training at The Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Harooni has special expertise in all corneal
diseases including the latest techniques in corneal transplantation, endothelial cell
transplants, refractive surgery, LASIK, and many other procedures. We are very excited
to have Dr. Harooni on board and look forward to introducing him to our corneal patients.
Kathleen K. Karol, MD Comprehensive Ophthalmology and Cataract Surgery Dr. Karol is a graduate of Medical
College of Ohio. She performs comprehensive eye care and general ophthalmic surgery.
In addition to cataract surgery, she also offers care for chronic inflammatory disease.
|Rodney W. McCarthy, MD, FACS Oculoplastic Surgery and General Ophthalmology Dr. McCarthy performs a full range
of general medical and surgical care. He specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive
plastic surgery involving the eyes, eyelids, and related facial structures.
|Robert N. Neville, MD Comprehensive Ophthalmology and Cataract Surgery Dr. Neville is a graduate of Medical
College of Ohio. He offers comprehensive eye care and surgery at the Bowling Green
and Fostoria office locations. He has a special interest in cataract and glaucoma
surgery. He is a past Chief of Staff of Wood County Hospital.
|Jason Ofori, MD FACS Comprehensive Ophthalmology and Cataract Surgery Dr. Ofori is a comprehensive general
ophthalmologist. He performs eye examinations on adults and children and performs
the full range of general medical and surgical eye care.
|J. Gregory Rosenthal, MD Retina Surgery/Diabetes/Macular Degeneration Dr. Rosenthal specializes in all diseases
and surgery of the retina. Dr. Rosenthal's primary medical interest is in the area
of diabetic care and surgery for complex retinal detachments. He serves in a number
of leadership positions in the region. He is also a national advocate for patient
rights. He directs and operates the Jairus Foundation Project for Third World Medicine
in the Dominican Republic and elsewhere.
|Scott Sadowski, OD Comprehensive Optometry and Contact Lenses Dr. Sadowski offers comprehensive optometric
care at the Bowling Green office. In addition to a full range of primary eye care
services, he also specializes in contact lens care.
|Michele Schlagheck, OD Comprehensive Optometry and Contact Lenses Dr. Michele Schlagheck provides comprehensive
optometric care. She has a special interest is in contact lens fitting including patients
who have been told that they were "difficult to fit." Dr. Schlagheck has extensive
experience and success with fitting bifocal and other special design contact lenses.
|Jeffery N. Stephens, MD Retina Surgery/Diabetes/Macular Degeneration Dr. Stephens also specializes in medical
and surgical care of the retina. He has extensive training in the care of macular
degeneration and diabetes and also offers care of pediatric retinal problems. Dr.
Stephens provides all types of retinal surgery and management as part of the regions
only comprehensive retinal service. He sees patients in Toledo, Defiance, and Monroe,
|Gerald S. Striph, MD Neuro-Ophthalmology/General Ophthalmology Dr. Striph is fellowship-trained in neurologic
diseases of the eye and visual systems.Dr. Striph performs eye examinations and second
opinions for patients of all ages with primary focuses in neuro-ophthalmology, cataract
sugery and general ophthalmology, botox therapy and eye movement disorders. In addition
to routine eye care, he performs "no-stitch no-shot" cataract and implant surgery
as well as eyelid and eye muscle surgery.
