Glaucoma

Glaucoma care has improved dramaticaly in recent years with many new developments in both diagnosis and treatment.  Glaucoma is a condition causing damage to the optic nerve, the "video cable" carrying vision from the eyes back to the brain.  This is usually, but not always, associated with increased eye pressure.  Vision Associates offers the only comprehensive glaucoma service in the region.  Dr. John Burchfield takes care of all forms of glaucoma and works closely with the other specialty services at Vision Associates for patients with related eye diseases.  Among the technologies that we offer are:

HRT Optic nerve mapping True 3 Dimensional Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) Fully computerized visual field testing Macular microperimetry Corneal pachymetry Green, Infrared, and Subliminal (SLT) Laser Conventional Glaucoma Filtering Surgery All variations of the new filtration valves, such as Baerveldt Valve Placement
