Cataract Service

A cataract is the eye's normal lens that has become cloudy, due to age or disease, and no longer clearly focuses light within the eye.  Just having a mild cataract, is not a reason for surgery. Surgery is offered when the cataract impairs vision enough to affect daily activities such as reading or driving. The cataract is removed and an artificial intraocular lens (IOL) is put in its place.  Vision Associates has several opthalmologists who perform this procedure at our Wildwood facility, as an outpatient, or in selected area hospitals. Cataract surgery has many options today including IOL options like multifocal implants that may reduce dependence on glasses and "no stitch/no shot" surgery.  Because our cataract surgeons works closely with our glaucoma, retinal, and corneal specialists, all care can be offered "under one roof" with no need for referral elsewhere.  Please click here to learn more about the physicians at Vision Associates.
