and Chief of Gastroenterology, has been a faculty member at The University of Toledo
Medical Center, and in private practice in west Toledo, since 2001. He earned his
medical degree from Damascus University, School of Medicine, Damascus, Syria, and
completed his residency in internal medicine at St. John Hospital and Medical Center,
Detroit, MI. Trained in ERCP, Dr. Daboul completed two fellowships at the University
of Tennessee, Memphis, in biliary endoscopy and gastroenterology and hepatology.
His clinical areas of interest are biliary endoscopy diagnostic and therapeutic, and
all other GI endoscopies and diseases; his research interests are GERD, pH monitoring
and Hepatitis C. Dr. Daboul is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.

Patients are seen at Glendale Medical Center Dr. Filipiak, Associate Professor and
Chief of Endoscopy, joins UT from private practice. He earned his medical degree
from The University of Toledo Medical Center in 1993, and received the Internal Medicine
Teaching Award; he completed a gastroenterology fellowship at William Beaumont Hospital.
Before returning to his alma mater, Dr. FIlipiak was in private practice in west Toledo
for ten years. He recently authored a book on managing Irritable Bowel Syndrome as
an educational tool for his patients. Dr. Filipiak's areas of clinical and research
interests include Colitis, Crohns Disease and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. He is board
certified in gastroenterology and is skilled in GI motility testing, ERCP and Endoscopic
Ultrasound of the GI tract.

383-3007 Patients are seen at Glendale Medical Center Dr. Thomas Sodeman joins The
University of Toledo (UT) as Associate Professor and Chief of the Division of Hepatology.
Dr. Sodeman is an UTMC medical school alumnus, Class of 1995. He completed his internal
medicine residency, a gastroenterology clinician investigator fellowship and a transplantation
medicine hepatology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn. Dr. Sodeman was
an instructor of medicine for two years at the Mayo Clinic and practiced at the University
of Florida School of Medicine, Division of Digestive Diseases and Nutrition as assistant
professor, before returning to his alma mater. He is the third generation in his
family to work in the UT Department of Medicine, following in the footsteps of his
father, Dr. William Sodeman, Jr., and his grandfather, Dr. William Sodeman. His clinical
and research interests are fatty liver and liver transplantation. Dr. Sodeman
is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.
