UTMC "Alumni" Stories - Lawrence J. Burns
I have had the opportunity to work at The Medical University of Ohio and The University of Toledo for the last 19 years. It has truly been an adventure and a wonderful experience to be part of an emerging medical school, a dynamic clinical enterprise, and now one of the fastest growing universities in the mid-west.
Along the way, I have had an experience with cancer that gave me an opportunity to utilize the clinical services I so proudly spoke about for years. When I was diagnosed with tongue cancer in the spring of 2007, I was confident that continuing at the University of Toledo Medical Center would provide me with the finest and most personalized care that I could find anywhere in the country. Led by Drs. P.K. Chaudhuri, Roland Skeel, and John Feldmeier, I have been given the opportunity to return to good health and get back to living a full and fulfilling life. The comments that follow come from my heart, and I hope they are helpful in some small way.
