Comprehensive Breast Center

Utilizing a coordinated team approach, the Comprehensive Breast Center offers women a comprehensive array of services to diagnose and treat breast problems. At the Cancer Center, clinicians evaluate women who have benign or malignant breast problems, provide individual consultation and use minimally invasive procedures (including mammography, ultrasound and stereotactic biopsy) to diagnose breast disease.

In addition to treating patients diagnosed with breast cancer, the Comprehensive Breast Center offers a breast cancer risk assessment clinic to identify women who are at an increased risk of developing breast cancer. Women with a genetic predisposition are counseled on ways to reduce their chances of developing breast cancer, including prophylactic surgery and chemoprevention with the use of hormone controlling drugs.

Patients can receive a mammogram and biopsy within one week from the time they call for an appointment. They will receive a diagnosis and treatment plan within 72 hours of their first visit, if not the same day.

The multidisciplinary team at the Comprehensive Breast Center coordinates investigations into ways to improve diagnosis, treatment and prevention of breast cancer. Visit the Clinical Trials & Experimental Therapies of our Web site to learn more about the research efforts currently underway at the Cancer Center.
